Texans need a hand up, not a hand out +

First let me answer the question you are already asking, '“how are we funding this?” the answer is pretty simple. By taxing the corporations and developers that are flocking to our state. We don’t need to pay more taxes, they need to pay for their spot at our table. Our state runs on property tax and sales tax, as your Senator I will fight to hold these corporations accountable for both. I believe we can ease the cost on regular Texans by capping property tax abatements on large tracts of land for corporations and targeted repeal of the sales tax exemptions for things like electricity that end up shifting the usage cost burden to consumers. These two policies alone will generate billions in revenue for our state and local governments that will increase funding for everything in our state across the board, and stabilize costs for regular folks.

As your Senator I will strive to bring realistic change to the district aimed at fighting the real issues we actually face everyday, high cost of living, lack of access to healthcare, and decent education for Texas students. Below are the policy goals I have in mind for District 28.

What are my plans as your Senator

  • It is no secret, Data Centers are coming to this state and our state leadership has been asleep at the wheel.

As Senator I will demand, transparency on resource and energy usage through quarterly reports, require extensive environmental impact studies in regards to farm land, resource sustainability and health impacts on local communities.

I will demand we eliminate huge sales tax exemptions, high percentage property tax abatements and limit corporations from renting up multiple homes in a rural area when they bring large crews for development projects. Renters deserve stable, affordable rates, plain and simple.

  • Prices are too damn high. Texas is in the top 10 for homeowners’ insurance premiums and there has been no real legislation passed to fix it.

My plan to help bring down costs is more funding for emergency services and programs, specifically fire departments

One thing our rural areas have is EMTs. I want to fund fire school for these EMTs, give them a few extra dollars for their pocket book, and provide training for volunteers and funding for updated equipment.

By creating rural fire departments and career fireman. we can reduce our FEMA risk rating and lower homeowners insurance premiums.

  • I was educated from kindergarten to 12th grade in district 28. I believe in Texas public schools and its educators and providing resources to those teachers, so they don’t have to make wish lists to get through the semester.

I don’t believe in giving money taxpayer money meant to fund the public education system, to private schools that rural students can’t even attend.

In 2027 the voucher scam bill will be up for revaluation and restructuring. I will vote to get it out and reallocate that money to Texas public schools.

  • If you pay taxes you pay medicaid. That money should be used to fund healthcare for everybody.

As senator I will fight for more access to Medicaid for Texans so we can all go to the Dr. and get the care we need.

I will also fight to enforce stricter repayment requirements and deadlines to help get rural hospitals caught up.
